Rambouillet Worsted

$32.00

Worsted weight yarn, hand-dyed using our farm grown or foraged plants.

Our Rambouillet Worsted base is a springy 2 ply which knits up quickly and is a great choice for both garments and cozy colorwork blankets.

We grow and gather our dye-material, use non-toxic mordants and source only sustainably raised US grown and milled wool. We care about our environmental footprint and are passionate about utilizing plants, fungi and lichen that flourish in our climate.

Each skein is:

-  100 grams, 196 yards

-  worsted weight, 2-ply 100% Rambouillet wool

-   recommended gauge: US 7-9, 4.5-5.5 mm 16-20 st to 4 in.

Rambouillet is a breed of sheep sometimes known as the French Merino- this breed does well in the Western states and produces wonderfully springy, durable, soft wool that can also be used for felting projects.

Washington state residents will be charged 6.5% sales tax. Please allow up to 2 weeks for us to dye and ship your yarn.

Dyes:

  • MADDER ROOT- ranges from terracotta red to poppy red to a peachy coral

  • ONION SKIN- ranges from a vivid sungold yellow to more muted golden wheat

  • RUDBECKIA- ranges from silvery sage to khaki green

  • INDIGO- sky blue, true blue royal blue: dyed using Japanese Indigo

** A note about indigo: while it is wonderfully color/lightfast, it may rub onto hands and needles from the pressure of initial knitting. We recommend using metal needles as wood will stain blue.
